Our New Friend

Found Barb by complete accident and friendly banter over a Rick Steves walking tour.  As we stood in a port square of Nafplio at Number 1 of the tour, I noticed a woman with his book (Rick's) ( Before we left home I covered ours with plain paper like we used to do with paper bags for our new school books when I was kid at Nathan Hale School so we wouldn't be identifiable as tourists. . Of course we are obviously toursts.  Back to the tour. I  tried the old tried and true pick - up line we've all heard and used...."Looking for Number 2?"   And she was ours and we hers.

We meandered, we went to ancient Minoan Mycenae together,  ate and wined together. ..and ed vendors after she traveled far and wide....we tracked her down in Monemvasia, an amazing 6th century and beyond settlement city built in the stones of a huge rock off the coast of Southern Pelleponesos.

Barb stayed in a rock like sanctuary seeming to emerge from the cliffs and stone with an arched bed chamber and bathroom built for sounding...which I did.  We stayed on the mainland. ..but that is another whole story.

In the meantime Barb left to join in with REI folks and much hiking and other good things for the next week.  Then she is home to Seattle to continue being the EXCELLENT judge that I know she must be.

I call Barb a Full-Body photographer.  If she ever quits being a judge she could give workshops.
