Standing atop the Monemvasia rock of an island at the locked entrance to the main old church closed for renovation. It might need it. Things are so old here they got renovated in the 15th century...and the 16th and 17th and.....by Greeks, Turks, Venetians and then the Turks again and then the Venetians. ...now it might be expats and wealthy Greeks creating vacation homes.
